Cell and gene therapy facility – Bristol

eXmoor Pharma is a leading technical and strategic consultancy in Bristol, specialising in cell and gene therapies (ATMPs) and biopharmaceuticals.

The company appointed Clean Room Construction (CRC) to carry out an initial concept design for a new 6,050m2 cell and gene therapy facility on the Patchway business campus in Bristol. Following on from the concept design, CRC undertook a detailed design and build of the first project phase. This included 900m2 of GMP cleanrooms, 600m2 laboratory space and 400m2 of GMP warehouse space and accommodation. In addition, CRC installed mechanical infrastructure including heating, cooling, drainage and waste treatment, and electrical services (including main switch panels, backup generator and UPS).

Other services included:

  • Energy Recovery Systems (ERS)
  • Process services including special gases, oxygen enrichment and depletion alarms, and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS)
  • Access control including car park entry gates
  • CCTV, ICT and fire suppression

The facility was completed to the client’s schedule with a phased handover and occupation. CRC also provided validation services including DQ/IQ and OQ services. Upon completion, Gavin Sutton, eXmoor’s Operations Director, praised “all of CRC’s design, construction and qualification personnel who helped us in our vision” and “everyone working as a single team.”
