Aseptic pharmacy - Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury
Clean Room Construction worked closely with main contractor Laing O'Rourke to deliver an aseptic pharmacy at one of the biggest hospital developments in the UK.
CRC was employed to supply and install the internal finishes, provide design advice and to write and execute the Design Qualification, Installation Qualification and the Operational Qualification for the aseptic pharmacy. CRC's scope included the supply and fitting of an integrated continuous particle monitoring system for the rooms and isolators and the provision of vinyl finishes to the floors, walls and ceilings as well as the doors, transfer hatches and windows.
The aseptic pharmacy consists of 3 isolator rooms, associated changing facilities, prep room and an office built within the new hospital structure. Laing O'Rourke designed and built the internal plasterboard walls for the facility and the HVAC system. A close working relationship was required to ensure that the correct holes and service easements were provided for the services and furniture to be installed.
The £226m hospital development at Pembury was the first in the UK to boast 100% single-room occupancy. It also houses 513 emergency beds and facilities for trauma care, complex/cancer surgery, orthopaedic surgery, radiotherapy, chemotherapy and women's and children's centres.
Contract Value: Circa £265,000
